Professional Consultation
Whether you're an associate building toward licensure, a licensed clinician seeking a trusted space to think through complex work, a therapist ready to build or grow a practice that actually fits your life, or an organization looking for a speaker who makes mental health accessible and actionable — you're in the right place.
You hold so much space for others. This space is for you.
Whether you’re refining your clinical work, building a private practice, or seeking guidance in your professional growth, consultation is a place to think clearly, feel supported, and move forward with confidence.
I'm Andrea Guttman, LMFT. I care deeply about supporting the people who support others. You deserve a space that meets you where you are — professionally, clinically, and personally.
Clinical Supervision
A dedicated space to think clearly, feel supported, and grow.
The work you do is complex, layered, and often invisible to the people around you.
Whether you're accumulating hours toward licensure or you've been licensed for years, having a dedicated space to slow down, think through your cases, and tend to your own experience as a clinician isn't a luxury — it's part of doing this work sustainably.
I offer individual clinical supervision for associates working toward licensure as an LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW in California. My supervision approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and grounded in genuine relationship.
I'll challenge you thoughtfully, support you fully, and hold space for the full complexity of this work — the hard cases, the self-doubt, the ethical gray areas, and the moments that stay with you long after the session ends.
My own path wasn't linear. I've worked in community mental health, Juvenile Hall, and school settings before building my own private practice — and every chapter shaped how I show up with clinicians now. I understand the weight of high-caseload environments, the specific challenges facing early-career clinicians, and the particular isolation that can come with private practice. I bring all of that into the room with you.
Clinical Supervision — a good fit if you are:
An AMFT, APCC, ASW, ACSW, in California, accumulating hours toward licensure
Working in private practice, agency, school, or community mental health settings
Interested in specializing in women's mental health, anxiety, burnout, or maternal mental health
Looking for supervision that supports your full clinical and professional development — not just case review
What to expect:
Individual sessions, 60 minutes
Case conceptualization, treatment planning, and clinical skill development
Ethics, scope of practice, and navigating complex clinical situations
Support for imposter syndrome, countertransference, and clinician wellbeing
Single sessions or ongoing consultation available
You don't have to hold all of this alone.
Good supervision and consultation make you a better clinician — and they make this work more sustainable.
You became a therapist to do meaningful work. Let's build a practice that lets you actually do it.
Business Consulting
Business consulting for therapists who want to build, grow, or restructure a private practice — without losing themselves in the process.
No one teaches us the business of being a therapist. Graduate school covers theory, clinical skills, and ethics — and then sends us into a profession where we're also expected to be entrepreneurs, marketers, bookkeepers, and brand strategists. It's a lot. And for many of us, it's quietly exhausting.
I offer business consulting for therapists who are ready to build a private practice from the ground up, transition away from insurance panels, get their systems and workflows out of their head and into something sustainable, or finally figure out their marketing and branding in a way that feels authentic — not performative.
My approach isn't a generic framework or a plug-and-play program. It's a personalized conversation about where you are, where you want to go, and what's actually getting in the way. We look at the practical pieces — your setup, your rates, your systems, your visibility — and the less-talked-about parts too: the fear, the imposter syndrome, the guilt about charging what you're worth.
I've built Tulipa Therapy from the ground up as a private-pay, women-focused practice — and I've learned a tremendous amount along the way about what works, what doesn't, and what no one tells you in advance.
I'd love to help you skip some of the harder lessons.
What I focus on:
Private practice startup & setup — the practical and legal foundations, before you open your doors or right after
Transitioning to private pay — fee setting, leaving insurance panels, talking to current and future clients about cost, and building a caseload that doesn't depend on directories alone
Marketing & branding — how to communicate who you are and who you serve, online and off, in a way that feels like you
Practice systems & sustainability — the admin, documentation, scheduling, and workflow pieces that quietly eat your time and energy
A good fit if you are:
A newly licensed therapist starting a practice and overwhelmed by the business side
An established therapist ready to drop insurance and move to private pay
A clinician whose practice is running you instead of the other way around
Someone who wants a marketing presence that actually attracts the right clients — without feeling like you're performing online
Anyone who wants a trusted, experienced colleague to think through the business of therapy with
Building a practice you love is possible — and it doesn't have to mean doing it alone.
Let's figure out what that looks like for you.
Education that changes how people live — not just how they think.
Speaking & Education
Speaking, workshops, and training for organizations, clinicians, educators, and community groups.
I care deeply about education that is actually useful — the kind that translates complex mental health concepts into real, practical tools people can use the same day they hear them. If you're looking for a speaker who can do that for your audience, I'd love to support your organization or event.
My speaking and training work focuses on anxiety, burnout, nervous system regulation, perfectionism, boundaries, motherhood, and authentic living — always through a compassionate, evidence-informed lens. I've contributed to blogs, podcasts, webinars, professional trainings, and workshops for clinicians, educators, women's groups, and parent communities.
My style blends science, real-life application, and grounded conversation. Your audience will walk away feeling both understood and equipped — not overwhelmed by information they can't use, but genuinely moved to see themselves and their lives a little differently.
Whether you're hosting an intimate workshop or a larger formal presentation, I'm happy to tailor the experience to your specific goals, audience, and format.
